The Kateri Tekakwitha Committee was formed to expedite the Canonization of a Native American woman born in the 1600's, a woman who led an exemplary life and fought many obstacles to become and remain a Christian.

The committee hoped to have representation from all Native American Nations, (i.e. Mohawk, Onondaga, Oneida etc.) joining together so that the variables of the Native American culture and Christianity be understood, shared and respected by everyone.

Below are just a few of the community activities that keep the committee busy year 'round.

Bringing Native American Culture and Catholicism to the general  Populace through Native American

Masses at other churches (by invitation) Fonda, Auriesville, etc.

Bereavement support to the Native American community and non-Native community.

Hospital and home sick visits.

Gathering of Native and non-Natives with meals and other social gatherings.

Project Kateri as our spiritual role model.

Meetings are held on the 2nd Sunday of the month in the basement of St. Lucy's Church after 9 am Mass and we extend this invitation for everyone to join.  The committee is comprised of Native American and non-Native American members.
